In this episode of the podcast I get the opportunity to sit down and chat with KHL skills and development coach Ted Suihkonen. Ted is a guy I’ve been trying to coordinate a podcast with for some time now, he’s a coach Ive followed since I got into the game, someone I have a tremendous amount of respect for and someone I’ve learned a lot from along my own coaching journey.
During our conversation we discuss what it was like growing up and playing hockey in Minnesota, and having the opportunity to play high school hockey in front of 18,000 people. We also get into how he got into coaching, some of his coaching philosophies and how he found his way to Russia where he is now the skills and development coach for HC Lokomotiv in he KHL.
Like I said Ted is a guy that I have been following and leaning from for a while now, so it was an honour to have him on the podcast and talk some shop. He is a guy that does things the “right way” and a guy that has worked for and earned all the success that is coming his way today. Ted is someone that I looked up to in the coaching world not just because of where he is, but more so because of how he carries himself and how he got there.
I know you guys will enjoy this one, and like always thanks for stopping by and taking in interest in what it is we are trying do here!
Until the next one,
