I this weeks video i’m going to share with you guys a little behind the scenes action from an on ice session that I had with one of my favourite clients of all time Colby!
So what I want you to focus on with these drills is yes working on and getting comfortable on your edges, but with a twist. Instead of rushing through the drill and racing down the ice as quickly as you can. I want you to do the opposite. Yes that right do the opposite, I want to see how low and slow you can get through these series of skating drills. What this is going to allow you to do is really get the feel of what each one of your edges feels like when you skating, and it will also help with building strength and muscle in the those legs and help you become a stronger and more powerful skater and better overall hockey player.
Being good on your edges is vital for some many different skating skills when playing the game of hockey. Looking back on my career and my hockey journey it’s absolutely something I wish I had spent more time practicing and perfecting growing up. If you want to be an elite level skater, then you better get out there and start working on those edges!
I hope you guys enjoyed this video, let me know in the comments below what skills you’re struggling with and working on currently!
